Abstract
The global pandemic of diabetes is well-recognized, with the current prevalence rate approximating 8.5% of the adult population worldwide.1 In India, the prevalence rate of 8.7% translates to >6.9 crore adult patients with diabetes. As an undesirable phenomenon in Indian epidemiology, the major burden of diabetes including its complications and mortality, affects the productive years of life.
